Find practical answers before discussing a tile project in Burlington, Toronto or the GTA. Each project depends on the room, tile and existing surfaces; the links below lead to more detailed planning guides.
Start with your room and project scope
The most useful information is the location, room, approximate size, existing finish and tile you want. Photos and product details help identify the preparation, layout and access questions to resolve. If you are renovating several rooms, describe each one separately.
These answers help prepare for an estimate. The final installation plan and product instructions should be specific to the actual work.

How much does tile installation cost?
The room, tile, preparation, removal, cuts and finishing affect the estimate. Contact us with your location and project details to discuss the scope and next steps. Read what affects tile installation cost before comparing quotes.
What should I include in my project enquiry?
Send your location, room photos, approximate dimensions, preferred tile and layout. Mention removal, damage, heating, access restrictions and the target schedule. Use our contact form or call 416-970-3232.
Can you install tile in a Toronto condo?
Share the property and project details. Confirm work hours, elevator reservations, deliveries and approval requirements with building management before scheduling. The Toronto page explains access planning.
Do I need to buy the tile first?
A sample or product link helps, but confirm suitability, quantities, layout and installation requirements before the final purchase. Tell us if you already have tile and how much is available.
Which is better: porcelain, ceramic or natural stone?
It depends on the exact product, room, intended use and maintenance expectations. Check the manufacturer’s specifications and read our material comparison.
Can wall tile be used on a floor?
Only if the manufacturer identifies the exact product as suitable for that floor use. Wall suitability alone does not establish floor suitability or traction in a wet location.
Can you install large-format, hexagon or herringbone tile?
Vule Tile offers custom layouts. Share the tile dimensions and pattern so handling, preparation, cuts and finishing can be discussed. See the custom layout guide.
Does a tiled shower need waterproofing?
The shower needs a planned water-management assembly behind the finish. Tile and grout alone should not be treated as the complete waterproofing system. Read questions before shower tiling.
Can regrouting fix a leaking shower?
It cannot be assumed to. The source may be plumbing, junctions or the concealed waterproofing. Assess the cause before choosing a surface repair.
Can you replace a single cracked tile?
A local repair may be possible if matching tile is available and the surrounding assembly is suitable. The cause of the damage should be considered. See repair and regrouting.
Can new tile go over my existing floor?
The existing material, condition, bond, height and installation system need assessment. Covering an unsuitable surface can leave the underlying problem unresolved.
Can I have heating under a tile floor?
Discuss the room and chosen heating system before installation. Floor preparation, height and electrical work need coordination. See heated tile floors.
How long will installation take?
Scope, preparation, pattern, other trades and product curing determine the schedule. Ask for a project-specific sequence. Our timeline guide helps you prepare.
When can I use the shower or turn on floor heating?
Follow the return-to-service and curing instructions for the actual waterproofing, mortar, grout, sealant and heating products. Ask for those instructions at handover.
Does my tile or grout need sealing?
That depends on the exact tile, grout and products used. Confirm whether sealing is appropriate and which product is compatible rather than treating every installation the same.
How should I clean the finished tile?
Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the tile and grout, and keep product information. Natural stone can need a different routine from manufactured tile. See the tile and grout care guide.
How do I compare tile installers?
Compare preparation, waterproofing, supplies, finishing, access and responsibility for other trades as well as the price. Use our installer checklist to prepare questions.
Where can I see design ideas?
