Vule Tile installs tile floors for kitchens, bathrooms, entrances and other interior spaces across Burlington, Oakville, Toronto and the GTA. The right floor combines a suitable tile with a prepared substrate, planned transitions and a layout that works for the room.
Choose tile for the way the room is used
Check the exact tile’s floor-use rating, surface finish and maintenance requirements with the supplier. Porcelain, ceramic and natural stone are broad material groups; suitability depends on the product and installation location. Wet areas and entrances need particular attention to traction and cleaning.
Natural stone may need different care and an assembly appropriate to its requirements. Large-format tile needs careful surface preparation and handling. Our material comparison guide gives you questions to ask before buying.
The floor below the tile
We need to consider the existing substrate, movement, condition and height at doorways or adjacent rooms. Removing old finishes may reveal repairs or flattening work. A floor that looks acceptable before demolition is not a guarantee that no preparation will be needed.
Discuss subfloor preparation in the estimate, including any suitable underlayment or membrane. The choice should be based on the actual floor and the requirements of the tile and installation system.
Layout, transitions and custom patterns
Tile direction, joint spacing and alignment with doorways affect the finished floor. Plan transitions to wood, carpet or other tile, and consider whether a different floor height will affect doors or fixtures. Large tiles, mosaics and hexagon patterns each present different cutting and layout choices.

Preparing the room and comparing the scope
Tell us who will move furniture, disconnect appliances where necessary, remove existing flooring and handle disposal. If you want underfloor heating, decide on the system before the floor assembly is finalized.
A useful estimate separates removal, preparation, installation and finishing. Keep the room available for the work and observe the installed products’ curing instructions before moving heavy items back. Read our timeline guide to plan room access.
Frequently asked questions
Can new tile be installed over existing flooring?
That depends on the existing material, bond, condition, floor height and the selected installation system. It requires an assessment; covering an unsuitable or moving surface can leave the underlying problem unresolved.
Do you install large-format floor tile?
Yes, discuss the chosen tile dimensions and floor condition at the estimate. Surface preparation, handling and layout requirements can differ from those of smaller tile.
Why does the quote include floor preparation?
The tile needs a suitable substrate. Repairs, flattening or an appropriate underlayment may be necessary for the actual floor and tile system, even when they are not visible in the finished room.
